If you want to go to North Sumatra, you have to go to Toba Lake, the largest lake in Asia with connected with some district in the province. One the best place to stay in Lake Toba is Tuktuk peninsula at Samosir Island.
Tuktuk has natural view and sense since the place very close to the lake where the tourist can enjoy the lake panorama and atmosphere. That’s why since years ago, Tuktuk has been one of the main destination for Lake Toba.
HOW TO GET THERE?
After arriving at Polonia Airport at Medan city, do the trip to Tuktuk by land transportation, such as bus or rental car. The trip will take four hours on the road to Parapat. Arriving in Parapat, the trip continued by taking ship which only cost around Rp 5.000 – Rp 7000. It’s only about a half hour from Parapat to Tuktuk.
ACCOMODATION
There are many accommodations in Tuktuk, such as hotel, ressort, cottage or villa. The living cost is started from Rp 100.000. Some of the cottage and villa has Batak (local ethnic) interior and exterior made by wooden.
Some of cottages in Tuktuk are Tabo Cottage, Samosir Cottage, Bagus Bay, Lekjon, Carolina Cottage and many more. You can also find some large hotel there, such as Toledo Hotel.
FOOD
Don’t ever worry about food at Tuktuk. At least western food always already served to many tourist from Germany, Netherland, United Stated, England, Franch, Italy, Spain, Japan and from all over the world. Besides, you can also find the taste of culinary like Chinese food, Indonesian food, or traditional local food –mainly made from pork meat served with rice and spices.
ENTERTAINMENT
The best entertainment in almost living stay at Tuktuk is musical performance by local musicians. Some trio, quartet or solo singer sing traditional song when the guests enjoying their dinner. They perform by using guitar and some traditional instrument, such as gondang (Batak drums) and sarune (Batak flute made by bamboo) and hasapi (small like guitar instrument with two nylon string). When singing, they usually dance traditional dancing called “tortor”.
